Hans de Kort
No photos from Van Gogh

Hans de Kort (NL – 1963) photographs in the “wet plate collodion” technique. This classic method already existed during Van Gogh’s childhood. De Kort visited the places from Vincent’s youth and captured them with a wooden bellows camera. In addition, he composed still lifes in his studio based on Van Gogh’s paintings of two worker’s shoes, a stuffed flying fox, his father’s bible and the head of a skeleton with a burning cigarette.

Vincent was here

Karin Borghouts (BE – 1959) became fascinated by Van Gogh after photographing a reproduction of a painting of him in her parents’ burnt house. This was the beginning of a long journey in the footsteps of Van Gogh. Of course it started in his birthplace Zundert, where she not only captured the church and landscapes, but also made an extensive photo series of the house of Vincent’s godmothers that is being demolished.
