Traveling exposition photo contest

PHOTO CONTEST Van Gogh’s world

As part of Van Gogh 2015 the Vincent van GoghHuis Zundert and De Brabantse Hoeders organize an international photo contest. The contestants are commissioned to follow in Vincent van Gogh’s footsteps and depict the places where he lived and worked.

To what extent is Van Gogh’s world still recognizable these days? Will we be given nostalgic pictures or, on the contrary, will there be images of an environment that has changed dramatically?

The assignment’s scope is wide. The only requirement is that the photos are made on locations where Van Gogh himself has been. Therefore not only the obvious locations such as Zundert, Nuenen, Arles, Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Auvers-sur-Oise should be considered, but also Breda, Tilburg, Amsterdam, Antwerp, Paris and London. This will provide us with an overview of Van Gogh’s world 125 years after his death.

This photo contest is organized as part of the European Van Gogh year 2015. Its theme is ‘125 years of inspiration’. Amateurs as well as professionals can submit their photographs. An ample selection of the submitted photographs will be used in a digital exhibition. Finally a professional jury will make a selection of 30 winning photographs which will then be made into a full-size travelling outdoor exhibition. This exhibition will open on 30th March 2015 in the garden of the Vincent van GoghHuis and will subsequently travel on past several Van Gogh locations in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Great Britain. One of the photographs will be bought by the Vincent van GoghHuis for its own museum collection.

The organisation of the photo contest is a joint venture between The Vincent van GoghHuis and the Brabantse Hoeders in cooperation with Breda Photo, Van Gogh Brabant and Van Gogh Europe.

Participants can submit their photographs up to March 1st 2015. Only one photograph per participant is permitted. The photograph needs to be submitted as a tiff-, or max. jpg-file and must at least be 4288 x 2848 pixels in size. Preferably via WeTransfer to: photo@vangoghhuis.com

Contestants automatically grant the Vincent van GoghHuis permission to use the submitted photographs for publication and exhibition without having to pay any additional consideration.
