22 November 2025 – 1 March 2026
From November 22, 2025, to March 1, 2026, the Vincent van Gogh House in Zundert will present the exhibition “Van Gogh in Antwerp.” Two artists from Antwerp, who also lecture at the academy, have been invited as guest curators: Nadia Naveau and Nick Andrews. They have selected artists with close ties to Antwerp and have invited Hans Wuyts to design the set.
The exhibition brings together a diverse group of artists and alumni to explore the themes that inspired Van Gogh and present contemporary reflections on his journey within his artistic practice. Just as Van Gogh actively sought dialogue with other artists in his day, this exhibition emphasizes the importance of collaboration and cultural exchange.
Color and light are at the heart of the exhibition, not only as artistic elements but also as symbols of insight and communication. Folklore and social engagement play a significant role in this, allowing art to bridge the gap between aesthetics and social significance. Van Gogh’s peripatetic existence is reflected in the dynamics of contemporary artist collectives and collaborations. The participating artists transcend cultural boundaries and demonstrate how mobility and interaction stimulate artistic innovation. The exhibition brings together a wide range of techniques—from painting and sculpture to video, performance, and archival material—while also emphasizing the creative process.
Invited artists: Philip Aguirre, Sven ‘t Jolle, Tina Gillen, Luc Tuymans, Vaast Colson, Lieven Segers, Anton Cotteleer, Fred Bervoets, Caroline Coolen, Kasper Bosmans, Geert Goiris, Jelle Spruyt, Vincent Geyskens, Maika Garnica, Benjamin Demeyere, Denie Put, Nadia Naveau, Nick Andrews.

Antwerp Academy Exhibition
During this project, presentations will be held at various locations in Antwerp. At the academy, the Van Gogh House will curate an exhibition from February 16 to March 1, 2026. This exhibition will partly highlight the (art) historical narrative and showcase work by Dutch artists who respond to the subject of Van Gogh in Antwerp. In addition, the winners of the Van Gogh AiR Prize, awarded annually at the Antwerp academy, will be presented. During the exhibition, we will organize activities, including an artist’s lunch and lectures by various experts. The venue is the room where Van Gogh’s work was exhibited in 1892.
